Contarnex infrared LED obstruction lights meets both ICAO Low-intensity Type A (10cd) and B (32cd), and FAA L-810 requirements. Obelux infrared lights are fully Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatible. The lights meet also Finnish Civil Aviation Authority (TraFi) regulations for infrared obstruction lights.

The increase of Wind Turbines developments and Met Masts installations across the UK has caused the MOD great concerns with regards to military night flying training, which is conducted at heights where wind turbines and met masts present a significant aviation hazard.
The MOD Low Flying Operations are aware that the majority of military night low flying is now conducted with night vision goggles (NVGs), and after a series of tials to determine the suitability of NVG-compatible IR obstruction lighting the MOD approved CEL infrared obstruction lighting for low flying aviation safeguarding of on-shore turbines in 2010.
These trials were conducted by the MOD, QinetiQ and the RAF Centre for Aviation Medicine, thus resulting in fully compliant with MoD regulation Night vision goggles (NVGs) has resulted In safe and consistent detection ranges.
When requesting lighting on wind turbines, the MOD will specify IR lighting as an option wherever possible in the interests of public amenity.
